Fall Bible Study

Our next church-wide small group study will be a 6-week study of a book by Joshua McNall entitled Long Story Short – The Bible in Six Simple Movements, beginning in September. The Bible can be daunting. It’s ancient, enormous, and sometimes challenging to understand. Long Story Short presents the Christian Scriptures not as a complex list of rules or doctrines, but as a single drama tracing the big story of who God is and how he is saving the world through six simple movements: Creation; Fall, Israel; Jesus; Church; New Creation. With this simple plot line in place, readers will not only understand how the little stories of the Bible fit together into a seamless whole but they will also be compelled to step into the drama to be part of its performance.

Two class options will be offered:

  • Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in the Crossroads Center (begins 9/17)
  • Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in Stacy Hall with virtual connectivity (Begins 9/11

LIFE GROUPS

What are Life Groups? Life Groups are small groups in which members share their lives with one another in a comfortable, non-threatening, supportive and prayerful environment. They’re designed to help build and strengthen our relationships with each other and with Jesus, and to help us apply a growing faith to our everyday lives. Being in a Life Group is about sharing of your lives through quality conversation, fun, and meaningful time together. It’s a place where you can know others and be known, love others and be loved, accept others and be accepted, pray for others and be prayed for. But you don’t have to worry about praying out loud if you’re uncomfortable with that. The point of prayer in your group is to remember each other and to support each other in your journey of faith. “Life Groups are small groups in which members share their lives with one another in a comfortable, nonthreatening, supportive and prayerful environment.” “We were created to walk with each other, to grow with one another and to glorify God together.” It’s an anchor point for your walk with God. And if the opportunity arises, it can also be a safe and warm place to which you can invite friends and family to get a first taste of what the church is all about. Life Groups are meant to be flexible. They can meet at different times, days and places – whatever works for you and your group. There’s an easy-to-follow guidebook your group will use to navigate toward a successful group dynamic. But if you find over time, for whatever reason, you’re just not “clicking” with your group, it’s ok! No judgments! You’re free to try another one that would happily welcome you. But consider giving a Life Group a try. God never meant for us to do life alone. We were created to walk with each other, to grow with one another and to glorify God together.
