As a Church, we are focused the theme: Rooted in Christ and Rooted in Community. What a wonderful way to think about who and where we are as a church family as we enter into the uncertainty of the new year by focusing on the comforting certainty of our God. As the director of Children and Family ministries, I’ve been dreaming about some ways we can use this theme as a springboard for our children’s opportunities for faith development. I love the family tables in Worship service and think they are working so well. The children are getting early exposure to all aspects of a worship service and see and learn from how the congregation participates while having some quiet activities just for them.
I want to also share some resources with you all throughout the year as parents/caregivers to provide ideas for those teachable moments we all experience in our homes every day. These are often the best times for making faith real in the lives of the kids we love. I invite you to reach out to me with any questions, concerns or ideas you have for how I can serve you and your family as we seek together to lead our children to be Rooted in Christ and Community here at PUMC.
